For eastbound Route 66 travelers, the monument is on the right at about 2.5 miles from Cadiz Summit. Westbound travelers will see it on the left about 15.5 miles from the town of Essex.
When walking around this area, make sure to notice the rock designs on both sides of the road. These were laid down by soldiers that were training for World War II. They were under the command of General Patton at the time.
