Los Angeles County Fair-Fairplex

Each September, the 487 acre Fairplex, located in Pomona, becomes the center of activity in Southern California. This year marks the 66th edition of the Los Angeles County Fair. With attendance of over 1.6 million annually, the L.A. County Fair is the largest county fair in the world.

 

The attractions include grandstand entertainment, exposition of livestock, home arts, agriculture, art, science, and industry. A carnival, a 5/8 mile race track for thoroughbred racing and paramutual betting are also highlights of the twenty-four day fair.

 

During the remaining 341 days of the year, Fairplex is utilized for numerous trade shows, consumer shows, and motor racing.

 

Recent expansions include a 284-space RV Park, and construction of the 243-suite Sheraton Suites Fairplex completed June, 1992. Renovation and expansion of exhibit facilities are ongoing.

Theaters

The Cal Poly Pomona Performing Arts Theater seats 543. The Candlelight Pavilion is a musical dinner theater that seats 397. Claremont College Center for the Performing Arts seats 2,500. Pomona College Theater for the Claremont College seats 700.

Historical Sites

The Palomares Adobe, La Casa Primera, and the Phillips Mansion are some of the historical sites that have been preserved and maintained for viewing by the public.

 


Concert Band

The Pomona Concert Band is currently celebrating it's 46th anniversary season. This ever popular musical organization performs throughout the year including regular summer concerts at the Ganesha Park Bandshell.
