Rialto, California

Rialto Historical Society

PURPOSES

The object of the Rialto Historical Society shall be the discovery, collection, preservation and publication of the history, historical records and data of and relating to the Rialto area; the preservation and restoration of historic buildings and the marking of historic spots: the collection and preservation of books, newspapers, maps, genealogies, and any and all materials which may establish or illustrate such history: the growth and progress of population, wealth, education, agriculture, arts, manufacturing, and commerce in said area.

NECESSITY

The Pioneers are passing. They have the knowledge of early events, important places and dates and names. These will be lost unless immediate steps are taken to get accurate records.

Commercial growth and expansion have wiped out many landmarks and will take still others unless we act before it is too late.

It is historically and economically important that we preserve the glory, inspiration and achievements of the early history of California and particularly the Rialto area.

OPPORTUNITY

This organization gives every loyal citizen a chance to join hands in a work of idealism as well as legitimate enterprise.

Tourists and visitors come here to get contact with the romance of the west and the Spanish and Pioneer eras of our land.

Our cities are getting to be like all other cities, and our landmarks are being destroyed or forgotten.

It is economic wisdom to preserve the things that attract and inspire our visitors. It is a noble service to note for our grandchildren the things that give color and glory to their heritage. It is a duty to State and Nation to pass on adequate records of the past.
