Historically speaking, the Helendale School District is one of the oldest school
districts in the High Desert. Known originally as the Mojave School District and founded
on February 4, 1877 began as a small one room school on the Berge Ranch. Since then, many
changes have occurred and have developed into what is now known as the Helendale School
District effective September 27,1975.
Under the current guidance of Dave LaQuay, Superintendent, the school district now
enjoys two campuses with the Helendale
Elementary School&SP; Grades

The School District provides an active athletic program, computer training at both
schools and provides satellite education programming at the Riverview Middle School. The
School District Board of Trustees strive to maintain a high level of education as has been
demonstrated through state test results.
