Ode to Helendale

Helendale Sings
Ode To Helendale

There's a city in the desert,
On the Old Mojave Trail.
Like the bloom upon a cactus
Is our city, Helendale.

Point of Rocks was what they called it.
"No, it's Helen", some would say.
But this city that we live in,
Is called Helendale today.

Route 66 brought many people,
Yes, they came from near and far.
You may remember Sagebrush Annie
Pumping gas and tending bar !

When that train rolls through the desert
And you hear that whistle wail,
The conductor tells the people,
They have passed through Helendale.

Helendale has now grown classy.
We've a country club, it's true!
But we celebrate our history
At our yearly Rendezvous!

There's a city in the desert,
On the old Mojave Trail.
Like the bloom upon a cactus,
Is our city Helendale!
