Comments - not part of study

Only a limited number of copies of this study are available. The study offers a variety of alternatives for the preservation and management of Route 66. It includes a comprehensive yet concise history of Route 66 while capturing a taste of the romance of the road.

Congratulations go to the National Park Service Staff for the preparation this document.

Here's the team that put this together -

Special Resource Study

Route 66

Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma
Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California

U.S. Dept. Interior, National Park Service NPS D-4 July 1995.

Various state associations, private individuals, scholars, and local, state, and federal agencies all contributed to make this study a reality. It would not have been possible without the able assistance of those who facilitated our scoping trips, participated in the various local and regional meetings, shared their knowledge, information, wisdom, and reminiscences, offered us warm hospitality, and helped us understand what Route 66 is all about. It is impossible to thank individually the hundreds of people who took part in this planning effort, but we wish to acknowledge them all here.
